Association “Living History” – Shumen
This is a relatively new club (founded in October 2018) for historical restorations and live paintings, recreating moments of Bulgarian history. Most of its members are former participants in other related organizations that’s why their names are given in the photo and film materials. The association's program includes several historical periods: the Middle Ages (VII - X centuries), the Revival (1828 - 1876), the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation (1877 - 1878), the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising (1903), the Balkan War (1912) and the First World War (1914 - 1918).
The main specificity of the club in the "Middle Ages" section is the presentation of clothing and armaments from the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium). Over the years, it has happened that the members of the club, engaged in medieval reconstruction, were required to take on the role of the Romans in the recoveries of the battle of the Varbish Pass since 811, in the annual International Council Festival “Days of Ancestors“ at the Pliska National Historical and Archeological Reserve, The Festival of Medieval Traditions, Lifestyle and Culture "Kaleto - Mezdra", the Medieval Fair in Assenovgrad, "The Bulgarian Army - From khan Asparuh to the Present Day" -Asparuhovo, Varna municipality, the Battle of Markel, The National Medieval Fair "Magical Madara". Last but not the least is the participation in the international restoration "Valor and Glory" at the Shumen Fortress (2017) - the seizure of the fortress by Vladislav III Jagelli in 1444 (in this case, the role of defenders of the Turkish garrison); also at the festival in Kameno village, Burgas municipality (2018), dedicated to Khan Tervel's battle against the Arabs (the role of Arab warriors).
The Renaissance section presents mainly the guerrillas, the Ottoman Army, the Russian Army (the Russo-Turkish War of 1828 - Vasil Drumevo, The “Chakarov’s meadows” - Samokov); the Klisura uprising (1876) - the rebels and the guerrillas, the Hisarya uprising (1876), a number of live paintings (“The Old School” by Vazov, “The French Wedding”, “The Lost Machine” by Ilia Blaskov, etc.), and other performances in school and kindergarten’s festivals.
The Russo-Turkish War is represented with participation as the Ottoman Asker of Shipka, the Cossacks and the Ottoman Asker in the liberation of the town of Shumen and the liberation of Razgrad town; as a bashobozok in the liberation of Targovishte town; a 3rd March recovery for the liberation of Veliki Preslav town, featured live paintings re-creating the signing of the Peace Treaty in San Stefano and more.
